Truly Blessed - A Tribute to my Father

Our time on Earth, it seems,
Is very, very brief,
With moments filled
with joy and peace
And times of unbearable grief.

A few of us are truly blessed
When God lifts up His hand
And brings together in Holy Love
One woman and one man.

From such a union I appeared
To walk this Earthly plane.
He blessed me with my father,
And let me share his name.

He let me learn from this great man
How love should really be -
Unconditional, freely given,
Like the love he gave to me.

Living my life as he did,
Showing how much I care,
No greater honor could I bestow
On the one whose name I share.

I love and miss you, Dad!

Thank you, Janice, for your kind words about my writing and for your blessing.  You and I were both truly blessed by the relationship we had  -and still have - with our fathers.

The love of a father is truly different than that from any other source. I wish you well.

Sarah, you are so right!  I have felt loved by many during my lifetime but none was quite as unconditional as that of my father.  It sounds as if you, too, were truly blessed by such a love.

Hi Patricia, what a beautiful poem about the gift of God's love and of a wonderful earthly father. I didn't begin a relationship with my dad until I was 38, so I know what a treasure a dad is. You might enjoy the article "My Father: From last to first." Check it out if you have a chance if you haven't already. I am enjoying your writing.

Hi Teresa,
Thank  you for the kind words about my writing.  This is a way to honor my father.

I did read, and enjoyed, your article about your father.  I am so glad the two of you have worked out any problems that might have kept you from each other.  May God bless both of you as you continue to grow in your relationship together.

Thanks!  I just posted the introduction to the book I am writing, that Lord willing, will be published someday. It's called "The Rise and Fall of a Wall Named Ruin: The Foundation." It's my most personal story to date. I feel a bit vulnerable, but after much prayer and waiting, I believe it is time. I look forward to any input you might have.  It probably won't go public until the morning, but you should be able to see it now if you click on my name in your "fanclub" page on the control panel.

Thanks again for your encouraging words, they mean alot to me.

Hi Teresa,
I didn't get a chance to read the article until this evening. I can see why you would feel a little uneasy about writing it.  Don't be.  You are doing a service to yourself, your father and your reading public.  Good luck with the next installment.
